3D Scanning components is the fastest and most accurate way to inspect or convert to CAD/CAM files for replicating/modifying/inspecting or reverse engineering of an original component. Manufactured and engineered components are increasingly more complex in geometry, 3D Scanning will assist in model modifications through CAD files inspection.
From engine blocks to surfboards to statues, even helicopters and mining equipment; 3D Prototyping is mobile and can 3D Scan your objects/parts onsite. 3D Scanning can create an STL file for 3D printing, full reverse engineering and inspection reporting; our qualified technical team are here to assist.
3D Prototyping can offer a cost effective solution for Engineers, manufacturers, researchers, artists, designer & toolmakers to have components scanned or verified at any stage of product development, reducing development and manufacturing lead times.
At 3D Prototyping we utilise the Shining 3D OpticScan QL, blue light optical scanning system coupled with high end SHININGFORM XOR software to convert and inspect any scanned component. Being a non-contact scanning system delicate and intricate components can easily be scanned, with sizes ranging from 10mm to 2000mm. Blue light scanning technology allows for the scanning of darker objects, shiny surfaces, at any time of day.
Reverse engineering is a process of capturing data from a physical component, with our Shining 3D optical scanner, from the point cloud data captured we can then export it to the powerful SHININGFORM XOR software where surfaces are added to the polygonized model to produce a water tight surface file, which can then be exported to CAD/CAM and rapid prototyping software.
Suitable files that can be exported in are STL, IGES, TXT, STEP ASCI and parasolid XT.
After manufacturing a complex component how do you check critical areas with a high degree of accuracy?
3D Prototyping can overlay the original CAD file to the high resolution scan to compare features, surfaces and tolerances utilising Shining 3D systems coupled with the powerful SHININGFORM XOR software.
This will clearly highlight discrepancies between design and manufacture of components for close fitting parts and where flatness and tolerances are of high importance to a components manufacture, thus eliminating guesswork, ultimately reducing development costs and cycle times.
Inspection Reporting can be used for quality control, tooling verification, plastic components, aerospace, and metal products to establish conformity to the original CAD data.
Accurately quoting on 3D Scanning, 3D Prototyping require a series of images from different angles; coupled with a measuring device to indicate scale.
